What does the snake in WHO's logo represent?

Have you ever noticed and wondered what the snake around the stick in the logo of the World Health Organisation -WHO really represent?

The World Health Organisation-WHO is an agency of the United Nations that is tasked with the responsibility of international public health. Its main objective is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health.

Founded in 1948, few years after its parent body the United Nations, WHO has on its logo a short snake that is coiled around a stick with the world map on in the background.

Snake symbols are not only on WHO but mostly on Medical and Emergency Related Facilities like Ambulances, Hospitals, Surgeries, Fire Fighting Departments. Even in various churches in Southern Africa, there is a Rod wrapped around by snake used by Pastors.

What does the snake stand for?

The Rod of Asclepius?

The Rod of Asclepius is an ancient Greek symbol associated with medicine, consisting of a serpent coiled around a rod wielded by the Greek God of healing and Medicine, Asclepius.

The Rod of Asclepius is one of the two most widely used symbols of modern day medicine together with The caduceus. In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Asclepius was the god of medicine and healing.

Asclepius is the son of Apollo (god of healing, truth, and prophecy) and the nymph Coronis. While pregnant with Asclepius, Coronis secretly took a second, mortal lover. When Apollo found out, he sent Artemis to kill her.

It is the Symbolic Snake of Moses in the Bible; representing healing

Another explanation is that the snake is the same symbolic use in the Bible in the time of Moses. Snake is a symbol of healing. Moses protects his people from the snakes sent by God as discipline for their lack of faith. The bronze serpent on a rod; merely looking at it, is sufficient to cure anyone bitten by a snake and that symbolizes salvation.

The reference is found in biblical book of Numbers 21- verse 5-9- when Moses lifted the serpent to save the Israelites. A type of Christ on the cross who became sin that man maybe saved!!

Numbers 21:; “So Moses made a snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed.”

Is WHO a religious body then if it is logo is derived from or linked to Christian concept?

Perhaps, the world health is more aligned to the Greek mythology of the rod of Asclepius. Either way, it seems that medicine and health are interwined with religion.

Snake is also symbol of deception; as in the Snake the tempter of Eve

However, it is observed that snake also represents deception and evil in the Bible. The snake was depicted as the deceiver who misled Eve in the Bible. Hence, the symbolism of snake in health or medical practice may not be trusted in the sense that it may means something else than healing.

Deception, full of the work of darkness.never trust a snake.God said there will always be enmity between man and serpent.

Gen.3:1-”Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Snake in African and other ancient traditions

In Isizulu it is called umbilini and in some parts of West Africa such as Benin (where they have the Temple of Pythons) the snake is associated with gods and ancestors. They are considered a sign of vitality and life. In Hindu it is called kundalini, and it is believed that the snake lives in your central nervous system and has to do with Chakras.

There is also another reference to the book called The Liberation of The African Mind: The Key to Black Salvation by Adisa Franklin. In the book, Franklin briefly explains the snake symbol. It is worth reading for further illumination on the subject.

==== HEALING IDEA ==== SPIRITUAL PRAYER

Within and with all this, many things are reshaping, relieving and healing in man and his environment.

Rest is taking place. Perhaps, had this not happened other disaster might be visiting our world, lives and homes in a foreseeable future.

Rest is inevitable. It is not a lazy around, You cannot carry on as you are doing. There is a need to stop for awhile or else you will break. A roller coaster rolling non-stop will surely come off, unbundle and break.

In God’s scheme of things, rest happens on the seventh day which is like the cut off day. A day of divine rest. If God rests, we can also find rest after we have finished or completed whatever we do or going through.

Rest is in view. It is institutionalized by God as a spiritual system of the kingdom. But it comes after work. Whatever we do there will always be cessation; a time when we step away and aside.

God grants rest because he initiated the concept of rest for us to have control of balance. If it is disease there will be rest, if it a curse there will always be rest. Every exertion of energy will have a time of rest. That's why the moon rotates, appears and disappear in the course of time.

Rest is also anchored in time. It comes when a phase or circle has been completed. Rest is about seasons. The land will rest after it has given of its yield. It will be dry so that the farmer may leave it to rest and then the rain will fall and new circle will begin.

So is human life. We will have time of hibernation. Our body rest in sleep for recovery and rejuvenation.

Rest is the creator's idea of a break on pedal of life. Rest control activities of life. It is a time of waiting for the next season, the next assignment, the next hour, the next day. It is the end and beginning at the same time.

Rest is God. God rest in himself. He withdraws not from tiredness but from giving of himself. He withdraws into himself to enjoy, feel pleasure and behold the works of his hand

We too must find time to withdraw into ourselves every other 7th hours, 7th day, 7th week and .month and year... to end and then begin

To observe the intersection between starting and ending.

Rest is the time of meditation. It is a place and time at the same time, a place and time of prayer, silence. There is a covenant of power, rest, tranquil and contentment, completion and satisfaction on the 7th hour, day, week, month and even year as we round the circle of work, turmoil, struggle, hustle and enter into rest.

5G: NEXT GENERATION OF MOBILE AND INTERNET CONNECTIVITY.

What Exactly is 5G?

5G is the next generation wireless network technology that we are expecting to change the way we live and work for good. It is designed to greatly increase the speed and response of wireless networks, we will see exponentially faster download and upload speed. By estimate data transmitted over wireless connection can travel as high as 20 gigabits per second (Gbps). This network will allow a large number of devices to access the mobile internet at the same time. With 5G whatever we can do with our mobile devices at the moment, we will be able to do much faster and better. It will first operate in conjunction with the existing 4G networks before it evolves to a fully standalone network as coverages are expanded.

How Will It Change Everything?

5G will drive entirely new services and business models we don't know of yet. In the process unlocking technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) which will enable businesses to improve their operations and identify new revenue streams. It will drive the smart cities of the future. Tech companies around the globe declare that 5G will transform the world for the better, its adoption might take years but it will change how the world is connected and the manner in which businesses are conducted and managed and this will go beyond the technology sector.

5G For Businesses.

This emerging network will provide businesses with so much more than just faster internet speed, though. When added to existing 4G network and combined with other next generation technologies like Internet Of Things (IoT), 5G will alter the DNA of user experience in dramatic and exciting ways that is from retail to financial services, transportation to manufacturing, to healthcare and beyond. 5G will also change the landscape of what's possible for modern businesses and the ones able to adapt and adopt quicker than their competitors will reap the reward. Because of the increased end-user speeds the network will offer it will be able to accommodate and improve the work habits such as remote working, sharing of files and communication capabilities. Therefore it is important for business to identify the key areas for growth and invest heavily in delivering the best products and services possible with the help of 5G technologies.

Benefits Of 5G To Education.

The next generation students deserves the next generation of smart classrooms. It will change how students learn in the future and provide a seamless learning experience for them. YouTube is a very preferred educational resources to many students, downloading a hight quality (1080p) video on 4G takes forever but with 5G imagined downloading a feature-length movie in a matter of seconds or maybe less. Amazing right? I thought so. Every student's style of learning and ability is different, this network will allow students to continue learning outside the classroom regardless of distance and location they will access the same information and exercises as their peers.

NOTHING BEATS THE POWER OF PRAYER

Take every new day as a chance to start over, press foward and learn new things. Don't let past situations take over your present moment.

Start your day with a prayer.

Always go for peace in every situation and even if it's difficult . Pray and hope only for the best that includes doing better improving day by day.

Accept that you're not perfect, you'll always make mistakes and learn from. "Every day has it's own worries, do not worry about yesterday and tomorrow" the bible says trust in the lord and He shall make a way for you.

It's not easy trying to focus on something else when worried about another issue but worries don't pay at the end of the day. So instead of worrying help someone near you.

Sometimes helping people around you can make you feel like you're not a good person people are just using you because you always feel like people keep on taking something from you.

I say this go to a qiuet place where you'd be free to release yourself and meditate for few minutes.

It can be your house or outside and say this prayer:

Our Father in heaven,

May your name be honoured.

May your kingdom come soon.

Just as it is in heaven.

Give us our food for today,

and forgive us our sins,

Just as we have forgiven those who

have Sinned against us.

And don't let us yield to temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.

For thine is the kingdom,

The power and the glory.

For ever and ever

Amen.

After saying this prayer it changes you to a different person time by time it's not a once off prayer to change you to be a good person but say it and be patient before the Lord.

carole. I'm having a hard time decoding what are the words from you -- and what are the words of your sources.

I really like scientific tie-ins to ancient lore concerning the stuff from human antiquity. The Devil was always associated with 'wisdom' (i.e. the apple) by the early inhabitants of earth. And naturally the serpent of the Garden of Eden was a guise of the Devil. So as long as there has been an old testament the people have associated snakes with the Devil, and the Devil as one who trades off his knowledge in exchange for your soul. In other words, follow the devil at your peril.

Because healers were associated with wise magical knowledge, the snake was a shoo-in as their emblem,

On the deeper end of things, Zecharia Sitchin (of 12th planet fame) was thunderstruck when the old emblem of 2 snakes coiling together (as noted in your post) made sense with Crik & Watson's DNA spiral helix discovery in the early 1950's. In Sumeria, 7 thousand years ago, the snake version of the spiral helix was the associated emblem (the tree of life) of the God (Enki) who created modern humans by nonsexual means with a hairy creature of the wilderness.

Enki became the wise Devil in more modern times. Yeah, the history of the ancients ties in (more and more) with diagnosing the past from our own expanding 'wise'ness. That is, if you want to call us wise. I certainly wonder about that with all these 5g revelations.

While so many are referencing the bible, the people that wrote them are stealing your country.

Unaskedforit. Well, you stumped me this time. I can't get a handle on what you mean by "them" in your line.

I could guess, but that might make me look more out of it than I am these days.
